Empty Bowl Fundraiser - Saturday, March 14
Empty Bowl is a springtime, community event to raise awareness and support for local homeless individuals. This year it will be on Saturday, March 14th. What makes Empty Bowl so neat is that dozens of artists create beautifully handcrafted bowls which are then filled with delicious soup. Event tickets are sold with all proceeds going towards the support of our shelter guests. This event is run by dedicated volunteers with a handful of paid-staff that come back year-after-year in order to help further the mission of Hospitality House - to bring homeless people in Nevada County into a circle of community caring that offers shelter, sustenance, medical care, advocacy, opportunity, dignity, and hope as we assist them in transitioning from homelessness to housing.
Some volunteer tasks are:
- Selling tickets
- Checking-in volunteers
- Serving soup
- Collecting donations and
- Set up and break down
Program Orientation and Training: All special event volunteers receive task-specific training at the beginning of their shift.
Location: Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W Main St, Grass Valley, CA 95945
There are three shifts:
- Brunch - 10:30am-2pm
- Early Bird Dinner - 2-5:30pm
- Cleanup - 4-7:30pm
Special Requirements: We ask that all of our special event volunteers work cooperatively with other volunteers, members of our homeless community, agency staff, and other community members. All volunteers are required to sign a Release of Liability Waiver. All Hospitality House volunteers must be 14 years old and older.

EVENT INFO FOR THE ATTENDING PUBLIC
Empty Bowl will take place on Saturday, March 14 with the seating options of Brunch from 11am to 12:30pm, Lunch from 1-2:30pm or Early Bird Dinner from 3-4:30pm. Tickets cost $30, (which include a handcrafted bowl, soup and drinks) will go on sale in February 2020, online at hhshelter.org, at BriarPatch Food Co-op, at Bread & Roses Thrift & More, and at the door while supplies last. Children under age 12 will be admitted free but will only be eligible to receive a bowl with a paid ticket.
