COVID-19 Small Business PPE Distribution – TUESDAY, July 21 – MORNING
We need your help! The County of Nevada Office of Emergency Services (OES) is offering local small business owners, with 25 or less employees, a 30-day supply of masks and hand sanitizer for each employee at no cost.
This Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been made available to California small businesses through the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) in collaboration with the Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA).
Help us provide this protective equipment to our small business community by volunteering to assist with repackaging equipment, loading vehicles, directing traffic, and processing applications.
Volunteer opportunities are both indoors on cement floor and outdoors on a dirt lot. Duties include standing in the sun and lifting up to 10-15 lbs. We will rotate positions and provide breaks throughout the shift. Masks are required. We will be practicing physical distancing and regular sanitation throughout each shift.
WHAT TO WEAR/BRING
- Face covering or mask, required
- Water
- Snacks/lunch
- Sturdy shoes to wear in dirt lot
- Sunscreen
- Sunhat
- Cool, comfortable clothing in which you can move
- Umbrella for volunteers working traffic control
WE ARE SEEKING UP TO 15 VOLUNTEERS PER SHIFT TO:
- Setup Temporary Event Infrastructure
- Monitor application submissions and inventory; communicate new orders, anticipate when to close application
- Register Walkups
- Repackage PPE for Easy Distribution (repackage PPE during distribution as new applications arrive and assemble into units based on number of employees)
- Direct Traffic
- Load PPE into vehicles (must be able to lift 10-15 lbs)
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
Setup Temporary Event Infrastructure
Affix signage, layout traffic route, stage cones, set up pop-up tents, assemble tables/chairs, etc.
Monitor Application Submissions
Monitor application submissions and PPE inventory. Communicate new orders to volunteers who are repacking supplies and staging PPE into units, A-E. Reconcile existing inventory with PPE requests submitted; anticipate when to close application.
Register Walkups
Most, if not all, applications will be submitted online. However, we will not turn small business owners away if they show up before submitting an application. This position will assist with onsite registration, via a tablet or laptop.
Repackage PPE for Easy Distribution:
Hand sanitizer and surgical masks have been shipped in large quantities. The Office of Emergency Services is seeking volunteers to help repackage PPE into smaller units for easy distribution. Each County of Nevada small business, which is defined as 25 employees or less, is eligible to receive 30 surgical masks per employee and one gallon, which is equivalent to 7 bottles of hand sanitizer.
Direct Traffic
Assist with traffic flow and guide members of the public to the PPE distribution destination. The location for this position is not shaded, please bring an umbrella and/or hat for protection from the sun.
Load PPE
Load PPE into small business owners’ vehicles. Must be able to lift up to 10-15 lbs at a time. This position is active and will be on the move throughout the shift, while traffic is steady.
