Historic Rose Garden

The historic Rose Garden at St. Joseph's Cultural Center (hidden behind the red brick wal) is a beautiful spot to wander through, relax, and find solace/sanctuary.  Created by the Sisters of Mercy nuns who came here in the late 1860s, the garden boasts heritage roses (some from the original hearty stock brought & planted by the nuns), camellias, yews, holly trees, etc.  Divided into 4 smaller gardens, each surrounded by a boxwood hedge planted in the shape of Celtic harps (best seen from the steps of the grand staircase), the rose garden is a peaceful experience.

SJCC is looking for individuals with or without a green thumb to help pull weeds, trim roses, shrubs & trees, mow lawns and help keep the area behind the red brick wall a beautiful spot for all to enjoy.  If you also have skills with minor building repairs and upkeep, they would be greatly appreciated as well.

The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
