Spay/Neuter Clinic Volunteer
AnimalSave Spay/Neuter Clinic, 520 East Main Street, Grass Valley, CA 95945
Tuesday, Thursday and/or Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm and 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Volunteers may work one or more shifts. We will work out your specific schedule together.
Position Summary: The position assists in the spay/neuter clinic on surgery days. This is a critical volunteer position that ensures the health and well-being of privately owned dogs and cats receiving services from AnimalSave’s Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Is reliable and dedicated to AnimalSave’s mission
- Depending on experience:
- Assists with paperwork, in-take, weighing, taking temperatures
- Restrains dogs and cats for pre-surgery injections
- Draws vaccines
- Cleans and sanitizes prep table between patients
- Monitors animals during post-op
- Following surgery, cleans surgical instruments, does laundry, cleans kennels when animals are released, cleans and sanitizes clinic, sweeps, mops and performs other housekeeping duties
- Follows established procedures for sanitizing and disinfecting
- Follows established procedures for safely handling animals
- Listens well and follows directions
- Works well with others and is a team player
Qualifications:
- Veterinary clinic experience a plus, but not required
- Animal handling experience a plus, but not required
- Ability to follow established policy and procedures
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand, bend and lift
- Must be able to tolerate anesthesia materials and cleaning and disinfecting products
Other Considerations:
- Training will be provided
- Minimum of 6-month commitment expected
- No drugs, alcohol or use of tobacco/vaping products allowed on premises
