Firewood Splitting Volunteer - Senior Firewood Program
Description:
Under general supervision and guidance from the Lead Volunteer, the Firewood Splitting Volunteer is responsible for splitting wood.
Reports to: Lead Volunteer and Program Manager
Hours: Wednesdays, 8:00am to 12:00pm
Duties:
- Observe safety procedures
- Keep oak and softwoods separate
- Lubricate splitters prior to splitting wood
- Use splitters to split wood rounds into firewood
- Keep splitters clean of debris
- Cover splitters following use
- Cover split wood with tarps as needed
- Clean up slash and load into yard waste containers
- Turn in expense report at end of month
Skills:
- Ability to lift and carry firewood
- Experience with splitting wood
Requirements:
- Compassion for seniors and a desire to help others
- Physically able to lift and carry firewood
- Background check clearance
- DMV driving record printout
- Current and valid driver’s license
