High School Food Pantry Volunteers - United Way
The United Way High School Food Pantry provides food for students in need. More than 100 teenagers who attend local high schools are homeless. Across the local high school population, 43% of students qualify for free and reduced breakfast/lunch programs.
6 Volunteers needed on TUESDAYS
- WHAT: Packing food
- WHEN: Every Tuesday from 2-4pm
- WHERE: 422 Henderson St, Grass Valley (in the Beam Easy Living Center building)
4 Volunteers needed on WEDNESDAYS (2 at each venue)
- WHAT: Distribute food at drive-thru
- WHEN: Every Wednesday from 11:15am-1:00pm
- WHERE: Parking lot at
Nevada Union High School, 11761 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA 95945
or
Bear River High School, 11130 Magnolia Rd, Grass Valley, CA 95949
This program runs for the 2020/2021 school year at Nevada Union, Bear River, and Silver Springs High Schools and is done in cooperation with Interfaith Food Ministry and Nevada Joint Union High School District. High School staff does the distribution at Silver Springs so no volunteers are needed there. COVID-19 safety protocols are in place for food packers, and the food distribution is a COVID-safe drive-thru.
