Office and Admin Assistance - Music in the Mountains

Music in the Mountains is looking for a few volunteers to help in the office.

Sometimes you’ll be reading a book. Sometimes you’ll be answering phones. Sometimes you will wonder if the copier has a personal vendetta against you. And the entire time you will be surrounded by people who are fun and supportive!

Volunteer Duties & Qualities

  • Help forward calls and take messages
  • Be friendly and personable
  • Able to give attention to detail and enjoy a methodical task
  • Be enthusiastic about the MIM mission and friendly to donors, vendors, and patrons
  • No experience is necessary. Training will be provided initially but volunteers are asked to be self-driven after training. We work in a data-driven, fast-paced environment with a staff that occasionally works off-site.

Music in the Mountains combines world-class performances with a deep commitment to music education. The 3-week SummerFest classical music festival features the MIM Festival Orchestra and soloists – consisting of professional musicians from all over the country – and our own MIM Chorus of dedicated volunteers.  SummerFest takes place in several different venues.

Music education programs include the Young Composers Project, and broad reach programs such as Carnegie Hall’s Link Up. MIM touches the lives of over 5,000 students each year. We work closely with school districts, music teachers and parents in advocating for the importance of music education. And where schools cannot provide due to lack of budget, MIM steps in to create solutions. Such programs include Take 5 for Music, Link Up, Peers for Peers and MusicLive, all of which bring classical music to school age children.

All volunteer positions at Music in the Mountains are unpaid and at-will. All volunteers will be required to read, understand, and adhere to a volunteer code-of-conduct attestation. For some volunteer positions, additional training may be necessary. Any and all additional volunteer training(s) is at the discretion of the organization and does not obligate the organization in a contract with the volunteer.
