Volunteer for this Sunday evening concert on the Great Lawn at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley. Gates open-6:30pm / Concert-8pm. Volunteer opportunities are before, during, and after.

Set Up Crew

  • Do you love working with your hands? Do you love physical activity? Can you twist a wrench? Are you a problem-solver? Music in the Mountains needs volunteers to set up their stage and venue needs. Volunteers must be able to lift 40 pounds with safe-lifting and proper body ergonomics. This volunteer position will largely take place outside and is a rain or shine job–commitment and will not be based on weather conditions. We ask that volunteers maintain a commitment regardless of weather conditions.

Parking Assistants

  • Music in the Mountains needs Parking Assistants for their concerts and events to help donors and sponsors find designated parking spaces and to direct patrons to enter the venue through the correct gate and/or door at specific concerts. Duties include: checking parking passes, directing patrons on where to park, monitoring the gate/parking lot for access to parking and placing the reserved parking signs for patrons. All directions will be provided and no prior experience is necessary. You will wear the latest in fun fashion–all black with an orange construction vest. (Vest provided.) The bonus is you get to see a concert on the night you volunteer. This volunteer position will largely take place outside and is a rain or shine job–commitment will not be based on weather conditions and we ask that volunteers maintain a commitment regardless of weather conditions. Parking Assistants may be at the front entrance or the back entrance and may be assigned to a local (within walking distance) off-site location depending on need.

 Gate / Parking Attendants  

  • Music in the Mountains needs volunteers to monitor the gates for our concert events. No driving is necessary. Duties include pointing patrons/volunteers/staff etc. to the correct parking lots and/or venue gates so that patrons may find ample available parking. Level-headed approaches and assertive behavior will be necessary in directing patrons to the correct parking lots. Light training and direction will be provided. Duties may include checking parking passes, helping patrons understand their parking options, directing other volunteers, directing for ADA accessibility, and assisting with direction to transport where needed and/or applicable. This volunteer position will take place outside and is a rain or shine job–commitment will not be based on weather conditions. 

Ushers

  • Help excited music patrons find their seats and have a great night! Join Music in the Mountains for a volunteer opportunity that is rewarding and fulfilling. Ushering for a concert will allow you to interact with the community, meet new people, and see a concert. We are looking for folks who are friendly, energetic and aware of their surroundings. Duties range from ticket taker, greeter, showing patrons to their seats and more! This is a team effort and you will be led by some of the best and brightest in the music business to make sure everyone involved enjoys a wonderful experience. We will guide you and train you–no prior ushering experience necessary.

Raffle administrators

  • We keep the fun in fundraising! Get your steps in! At Music in the Mountains, our concerts and events usually include a fundraising element. We need energetic volunteers to sell raffle tickets at our musical Summerfest events. Job duties include taking money in exchange for tickets for our great giveaway. Raffle administrators are asked to walk our venues and ensure integrity in our raffle prizes by keeping track of funds and raffle tickets. Volunteers must be able to walk several yards in an evening, keep track of cash flow with accuracy and excite the crowd for winning possibilities.

Strike Crew

  • Have you wondered what happens behind the scenes? Do you love working with your hands? Do you love physical activity? Come join Music in the Mountains to volunteer to take down production at our concerts or to shift stage-settings. Volunteers must be able to lift 40 pounds with safe-lifting and proper body ergonomics.  This volunteer position will largely take place outside and is a rain or shine job–commitment will not be based on weather conditions and we ask that volunteers maintain a commitment regardless of weather conditions.

Grounds Crew

  • At MIM, we believe in leaving the world better than we inherited it and that is true for every show. What better way to spend a beautiful day than helping Music in the Mountains clean up our beautiful venues during and after events. Volunteers will stay after our shows and will get to watch a show in its entirety. They will experience the after-hours magic as we strike a venue for the next event. Volunteers for this position should be environmentally-conscious and be able to bend at the knees to pick up trash and recycling. This position may require volunteers to work late hours.

All volunteer positions at Music in the Mountains are unpaid and at-will. All volunteers will be required to read, understand, and adhere to a volunteer code-of-conduct attestation. For some volunteer positions, additional training may be necessary. Any and all additional volunteer training(s) is at the discretion of the organization and does not obligate the organization in a contract with the volunteer.
